Ingenico Lane 5000 Installation Guide
This guide explains how to set up an Ingenico Lane 5000 credit card terminal on a Windows computer. Use this terminal to take in-person payments by contact card or contactless card. Cosairus Payment Services (CPS) processes the payment. CPS is a registered Independent Sales Organization (ISO) of Elavon, Inc.
Before you install a terminal, your organization must complete merchant boarding with CPS. If your organization has not completed merchant boarding, see Cosairus Payment Services Integration.
This installation has five steps:
- Unbox and connect the Ingenico Lane 5000
- Install Elavon Commerce Web Services (CWS)
- Install the Petsoft Certificate Update Agent
- Notify Petsoft to configure the terminal
- (Optional) Connect a Star Micronics receipt printer
1. Ingenico Lane 5000: Unbox and Connect
When the terminal arrives, check that the box contains:
- One Ingenico Lane 5000 card terminal
- One USB terminal cable
- One power adapter
- Plug the USB terminal cable into the back of the terminal.
- Connect the other end of the USB cable to the Windows computer that will use the terminal.
- Plug the power adapter into the USB terminal cable.
- The terminal powers on and shows a ready state.
2. Install Elavon Commerce Web Services
Elavon Commerce Web Services (CWS) is the software that lets the Windows computer communicate with the terminal.
Download: CommerceWebServicesSetup.exe (366 MB)
-
Download the installer to the Windows computer that is connected to the terminal.
-
Right-click the installer.
-
Select Run as administrator.
- This step requires administrator permissions. If your account does not have these permissions, contact your system administrator.
- If Microsoft Defender SmartScreen shows a prompt, select More Info. Then select Run Anyway.
-
Select your preferred language. The default language is English.
-
Select Next.
-
On the Welcome screen, select Next.
-
On the Running Mode screen, keep Single Device (Default) selected.

-
Select Next.
-
On the Open Firewall Ports screen, keep Do Not Open Ports (Recommended) selected.

-
Select Next.
-
On the Install Location screen, keep the destination folder set to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Elavon.
-
Select Install.
-
When the installation finishes, the installer asks you to restart the computer.
-
Select No. You can restart later.
3. Install the Petsoft Certificate Update Agent
The Petsoft Certificate Update Agent installs the security certificate that Commerce Web Services needs to communicate with Petsoft. The agent also keeps the certificate up to date automatically. You install the agent only once. After that, the agent checks Petsoft every day. It installs any certificate assigned to this terminal, including the renewal that Elavon requires about every six months. You do not need to reinstall a certificate yourself.
Download: Petsoft CWS Certificate Installer
Before you start, ask Petsoft Support for the device key for this terminal. Petsoft Support generates a unique key for each terminal. Have the key ready. You will paste it during the installation.
- Download the installer to the Windows computer that is running Commerce Web Services.
- Double-click PetsoftCWSCertificateInstaller.msi.
- Select Yes on the administrator prompt.
- If your account does not have administrator rights, contact your system administrator.
- On the Welcome screen, select Next.
- When the installer asks for the device key, paste the device key from Petsoft Support.
- Select Next.
- Keep the default install folder.
- Select Next.
- Select Next to confirm your settings.
- Select Finish when the installer completes. The installer also installs the certificate. You do not need to run anything else, and you do not need to restart the computer.
After you select Finish, a small Petsoft icon appears in the Windows notification area. This area is also called the system tray, near the clock. Right-click this icon at any time. You can see the last check-in status, open the logs folder, or select Check for certificate update now to run a check immediately.
The certificate installation is complete. The certificate will stay current automatically. If the computer cannot reach Petsoft during the installation, for example if there is no internet connection at that time, the agent retries the installation on its daily schedule. You do not need to do anything. If the terminal is still not working after one day, create a Support Ticket. See step 4 above.
4. Notify Petsoft to Configure the Terminal
After you complete the two installations above, notify Petsoft that the terminal is ready. Petsoft staff will then finish the setup.
- Create a Support Ticket. This option gets the fastest response.
- Or email support@petsoft.com.
Petsoft will notify you when the terminal is ready to take payments.
Taking a Payment Once the Terminal Is Ready
- Open a payable invoice in Petsoft.
- Select the Ingenico Lane 5000 as the payment option.
- Verify the payment amount.
- Select Pay Invoice.
A dialog shows the transaction in progress. Do not navigate away from the page while the transaction is running. Petsoft refreshes the invoice automatically when the transaction completes, is declined, or is canceled.

5. Optional: Star Micronics Receipt Printer
Elavon Commerce Web Services also works with the Star Micronics TSP100IV receipt printer to print receipts.
- Plug the TSP100IV into the Windows computer that is running Elavon Commerce Web Services. Use a USB cable.
- The printer prints a receipt automatically after each transaction completes. Petsoft needs no extra configuration.
- If you need drivers, get them from Star Micronics' TSP100IV support page.
If your terminal is already set up and you want to know how daily checkout works, see Invoices & POS.
6. Troubleshooting
If Petsoft reports that it was unable to communicate with the terminal, or a payment never starts, work through Card Terminal Troubleshooting. It covers the tray-icon and CommerceWebServices checks, the Certificate Update Agent, the browser's Local network permission and DNS settings, and what to send Petsoft Support.
